VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

PRE-RACE:

  • Bag Packing – Stuff racer bags/Put Registration Packets together; Easy/Sit-down- inside or maybe in a outdoor tent.
  • Registration/Packet Pick-up– This is a great place to be if you would like to meet the athletics or if you plan on racing the event. This job usually takes place under a tent or inside does not require a lot of standing. The packet pick up position can be worked the day before the event or in the morning before the event even starts.
  • Set-up - This group works along side our staff setting up for the event. Moderate to Heavy manual work will be primarily outside.

RACE DAY:

  • Transition /Pre-event athlete Check-in
Hand out timing chips and perform body marking on the athletes. Very easy position and only lasts a few hours during the morning pre-race segment.
  • Registration/Packet Pick-up
    See above!
  • Transition Area Monitor
This is an ideal position for those who have family and friends participating in the event. You would be working either at transition, finish line, or at the swim start/finish. Most of these positions will require standing. What a great way to cheer your family and friends but from the starting line, transition or finish line!
  • Swim Course
These crew members help us direct atheltes and work with our safety crew during the swim segment. If you are a certified life guard be sure to let us know that.
  • Course Traffic Marshal
Both bike and run in most events. This This our most technical position. You will be in the middle of the race action. This position is great for those who can stand for several hours and can multi-task. You will get to help direct traffic, racers and help law enforcement. We would like these positions to be staffed with those people that have event racing or volunteering experience.
  • Run Course Aid Stations
What a fantastic way for a club, family or friends to cheer on racers. This position will be doing a combination of sitting and standing most of the time in a group setting. Your job would require you to motivating racers, help racers with directions, supplying racers with what they like best: water, sport drinks, gel and most importantly a smiling face.
  • Finish Line & Awards
Hand out water bottles, backup timing, remove time chips and help with awards and medals. Easy/Standing/Outside Post Race Food Tent – Make sure food is stocked on tables. Help with trash and clean up. Easy-Some Standing-Under Tent.

Contracted Services:

  • Lifeguards – Certified lifeguards sit in boats and watch swimmers/help in case of emergency (all supplies provided)
  • Course Marshals – Motorcyclists patrol the bike course/let race staff know if help is needed/some marshals will carry a Course Official
  • Medical – EMT’s, nurses and doctors that man a medical tent/administer medical aid to racers (all supplies provided)
  • Law Enforcement – Officers posted at intersections to warn/direct motor traffic
