Course Support

All Courses are monitored by our Ultramax Volunteer Crew. They will be there to keep you safe and help you stay on course. They will also help set up the race site, and clean up after you leave. Please thank them when you get a chance, and help them out by taking your trash with you or placing it in a trash bin.

Aid Stations:

There will be no aid stations on the Octomax or Quartermax bike. Please make sure to have a water and/or sports drink bottle on your bike, so that you can stay hydrated. There will be three aid stations (~every mile) on the run, stocked with water, HammerGel and HEED sports drink.

Course Descriptions

Swim Course - The swim is held in clean, calm Lake Aspen (Innsbrook's no-boats rule allows us to offer one of the most pristine swims in the sport). You will swim counterclockwise, on a one-loop course. The course is clearly marked with bouys, with larger bouys at each turn point.

Last Swim Wave - Last Wave Option - Regardless of your age group or race distance, you can choose to swim in a special last wave (reserved for first-time lake swimmers, or athletes who are not yet comfortable with the swim). No need to decide early, you can decide on race day at the beach. Anyone wanting to go in the last wave simply waits until it is annonced, we will record your racer number and make the appropriate timing adjustments. It is that simple! We will have a Last Swim Wave option as the last wave of each event. (Quartermax and Octomax)

Bike Course - The bike course is a loop that begins inside the resort (about 5 miles/hilly), then heads onto primarily rolling open roads. This is an open bike course, but you will be separated from traffic with cones, where needed. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. Note: The Octomax course will make a turn, as indicated on the maps, to make the shorter course.

Run Course - The run course is out-and-back on paved and packed gravel roads, staged entirely within Innsbrook Resort... local traffic only! Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. This is a hilly course, so please train accordingly.

Transition Area (TA) - The entire transition area will be located up top by the Finish Line complex. You will exit, on your bike, through the BIKE OUT DOOR. When exiting for the run, you will run for a short period on grass, then onto the road. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. View the transistion map and flow here!
