Last Swim Wave - Last Wave Option - Regardless of your age group or race distance, you can choose to swim in a special last wave (reserved for first-time lake swimmers, or athletes who are not yet comfortable with the swim). No need to decide early, you can decide on race day at the beach. Anyone wanting to go in the last wave simply waits until it is announced, we will record your racer number and make the appropriate timing adjustments. It is that simple! We will have a Last Swim Wave option as the last wave of each event. (Ultramax Kansas 50 and Octomax)
Bike Course - The two-loop format bike course is a loop that begins at the Lake, then heads out onto primarily rolling open roads. The bike course is open to traffic. Having said that, the course runs through a a very rural part of the area, so vehicular traffic on race day will be minimal. Road surfaces are very good. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help guide you. Note: The Octomax short course will make one loop and return to the lake. There will bike aid stations on the course, approximately every 10-13 miles. Be prepared to carry fluid and food requirements, it could be a bit warm in August. Please remember it is your responsibility to know the bike course.
Run Course - The run course takes place on the gravel packed trail system that intertwines the Hillsdale Lake area. The entire run is staged on those packed gravel trails, and entirely within the Lake area property. NO Traffic on the run course! Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. This is a fairly flat and fast run course, only very small inclines. Approximately 80% of the course will be on packed gravel trails. Plan accordingly if you plan to wear racing flats. You should bring both pairs and judge for yourself once you arrive. Aid stations will be located every mile. Aid Station Supplies: * Heed * Water * Ice * HammerGel * Endurolytes * Oranges and Sponges.
Transition Area (TA) - The entire transition area will be located up top by the Finish Line complex. You will exit, on your bike, through the BIKE OUT DOOR. When exiting for the run, you will run for a short period on grass, then onto the road. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you.
Full Course Maps are Coming Soon. Please remember it is your responsibility to know the course.

SPECIAL ATTRACTION: Photogliff will setup a green background screen at each event. They can take your picture(s) at the finish or with friends, family whatever you like. Their staff will then superimpose your image onto a custom designed Ultramax background. All of this can be done on-site. Purchase those photos on-site!
Ultramax Events are timed using AMB ChipX Timing Systems and Chips. Please follow these simple instructions carefully. Not wearing the transponder properly may prevent you from being timed. Transponders are non-transferable! Be careful not to switch with other participants. The chip must be on ankle at all times or you will not be scored in the event. Your timing chip will be removed by volunteers once you reach the finish line. If you find you still have your timing chip after the race, please put it in a padded envelope and mail to: Ultramax Events 2902 Forum Blvd Suite 103 Columbia, MO 65203. YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $125 REPLACEMENT FEE IF YOU DO NOT RETURN YOUR TIMING TRANSPONDER Failure to return a chip will result in disqualification from all future events owned or timed by Ultramax Events!
TEAMS Teams will transfer their timing chip in the transition area. The last member of the team should wear the race number on the run leg. We recommend using a race belt for easy transfer. The timing chip must be on the ankle of each team member at all times while racing.

This is done to make sure the Kansas 50 athletes are able to roll past that point without the congestion of racers turning around at that point.

USA TRIATHLON (USAT) competition rules will apply. These rules are found in the Triathlon Competition guidebook (usatriathlon.com).
Please Note: Per USAT rules all athletes must present a photo ID at registration. NO ONE will be permitted to race without a photo ID. Also, YOU must pick up your own packet - you cannot have someone pick up your packet for you.
USAT’s “Age Up” Policy:
An athlete's age for any USAT sanctioned race will be his/her age as of Dec. 31, 2009 . The age he/she is on 12/31 will determine his/her racing age group. If an athlete is due to "age-up" into the next group, it will happen at the beginning of the year, not after the athlete's birthday. This action aligns regular U.S. age group racing with the method used by USA Triathlon for its National Rankings Program and its new Grand Prix Series.
Example: John Smith is 39 and will turn 40 on November 20, 2009.
John will be considered 40 for all 2009 races – and will race in the 40-44 age group at all 2009 races.
This same policy applies to the all race categories in Ultramax races (Open, Clydesdale, etc).
If you register online, you will receive an email confirmation immediately. If you mail in your registration form, please allow up to 3 weeks for processing.

a current email address when registering, as we cannot ensure that
this information reaches you otherwise. If you do not wish to provide
an email address, please download the packet from the main page
of the website, ~10 days prior to the race.
