The Team in Training Partnership

Ultramax Events has a very special bond with the missions of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Every five minutes someone in the United Sates learns that he or she has leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma - more than 300 people a day. Every ten minutes a child or adult is expected to die from blood-related cancers. This statistic represents six people every hour.
This is simply hard to imagine!

Ironman World Championship 2002 Kona, Hawaii

Amy Livesay, the wife of the Mark (owner of Ultramax Events) is a Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivor. Amy was diagnosed and entered cancer treatment just a few weeks after they first met. Amy has been cancer free now for 10 years. Since that time, Amy and Mark have finished hundreds of multi-sport events , including 15 Ironman Triathlons together.

Amy's survivor story is a testament that this disease can be beaten back!

It our time to give something back, and Mark and Amy are asking for your help! Amy will be our Honored Teammate for the 2008 Tour de Vine.
Her request is simple:

About the The Tour de Vine
The Tour is a two-day social bike ride/tour to Hermann, Missouri. The Tour starts from two locations (Columbia - St. Louis) simultaneously and we all end up in Hermann, Missouri on Saturday afternoon. We are planning to enjoy the afternoon and evening with wine tasting, catered dinner, live music, camping, our new special attraction below and much more! www.ultramaxtri.com

Sunday morning we pack up enjoy pancake breakfast and ride back to our staring points. The Tour is completely supported and all your camping and supplies will be transported for you. You can even choose to sag home on the bus if needed.

We made the fundraising goals simple, the two-day camping Tour will be a ton of fun, and the mission will be rewarding and so motivating. Over the years, Ultramax has been involved with the efforts of Team in Training. We are very excited to host our first event dedicated to the mission.

The Team in Training - History

Team In Training® History Team In Training (TNT) began in 1988, when Bruce Cleland of Rye, NY formed a team that raised funds and trained to run the New York City Marathon in honor of Cleland's daughter Georgia, a leukemia survivor. The team of 38 runners raised $322,000 for the Society's Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter. Because of the pioneering efforts of Cleland and the Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter, Team In Training was born and has grown into the world's largest endurance sports training program. Cleland was honored by Runner's World magazine in 2004 as one of their "Heroes of Running" for his role in establishing TNT. Join the more than 30,000 runners, walkers, cyclists and triathletes who will participate in the world's major marathons, triathlons and century rides this year on behalf of the Society.
