Course Support
All Courses are monitored by our Cycle Extreme Volunteer Crew. They will be there to keep you safe and help you stay on course. They will also help set up the race site, and clean up after you leave. Please thank them when you get a chance, and be sure to visit Cycle Extreme at 19 S 6th St., or online, and thank Tom for sponsoring this great Volunteer Crew! He's helping you cross this finish line... he has the equipment to get you across the next one!
Aid Stations:
There will be no aid stations on the short bike. Please make sure
to have a water and/or sports drink bottle on your bike, so that you
can stay hydrated.
There will be one aid station as you leave the Transition Area for
the run stocked with water and HEED sports
drink. There will also be an aid station at the short-course run turnaround
(the short and long course follow the same path, so the long course
racers will pass this station on their way out and on their way back).
Course Descriptions
Run Course - The run course is a loop on a paved path through Oakland Park with a short out and back section on the groomed gravel of the Bear Creek Trail. Short Course participant will run .75, then turn around and come back on the same route. The Long Course participants will go an additional .6 miles further on the Bear Creek Trail, before turning around. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you.
Bike Course - The bike course is a loop on open roads, with gently rolling hills (long course will do two laps). Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you.
Transition Area (TA) - The entire transition area will be located on the western end of the Albert Oakland entrance parking lot, directly off of Blue Ridge Road. The area has been designed first and foremost with safety and ease of traffic movement in mind. You will run from the starting line, complete the run course, then come in to the TA through the RUN IN door. You will exit, on your bike through the BIKE OUT DOOR. After the bike is finished, you will enter the TA through the BIKE IN door, then complete the run course and finish under the finish line arch. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you.
