BIKE: 18 MILES
RUN: 3 MILES

____________________________________________________________________________________
SWIM: 1000 YARDS
BIKE: 28 MILES
RUN: 6 MILES

Swim Course - The swim is held in clean, calm Lake Aspen (Innsbrook's no-boats rule allows us to offer one of the most pristine swims in the sport). You will swim counterclockwise, on a well supported one-loop course. The course is clearly marked with buoys, with larger buoys at each turn point. We will offer our new Last Swim Wave Option in both distances for those that want to avoid the turmoil and pressure associated with normal competitive wave starts.

Bike Course - The bike course is a loop that begins inside the Resort (about 5 miles/hilly), then heads onto primarily flat to rolling open roads. This is an open bike course, but the traffic is not heavy. Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you along your journey. The bike course is a real pleasure and the pavement is in fantastic condition.

Run Course - Yes, we have heard the run course is a bit challenging. We think just the way triathlon was meant to be. It has been called the Beauty and the Beast. The course is absolutely beautiful, 80% shaded and with a few hills ready to challenge even the best runners. Walking a moment or two on this course is nothing to be ashamed of! Well stocked aid stations every mile or less!

The run course is out-and-back on paved and packed gravel roads, staged entirely within Innsbrook Resort... local traffic only! Arrows, signs and volunteers will help you. When you do reach the finish line the sense of accomplishment will be so worth it!

Join us for our BIGGEST event of the year!.

The 2008 Lake St. Louis Triathlon is already CLOSED.
This may be your last chance for an open water triathlon in St. Louis area in 2008!

Our field limit will be strictly enforced!

Swimming Body Roll and Symmetry!
How much body roll do elite swimmers really exhibit?
By David Warden

Swimming in an interesting topic to research. Compared to biking and running, I there is much more disparity between what swim coaches teach, and what swim studies support. I believe that this supports the theory that teaching swimming is more of an art than a science. One can become a successful self-coached cyclist and runner, but it is very, very difficult to become a great swimmer without outside feedback and coaching.

Most swim instruction can be categorized into one of two philosophies: be streamlined, or be powerful, with the best coaching and swimmers having both components. But there is a third component that think is often overlooked, and that is: be symmetrical.

Your first thought might be “duh”. If you have all 4 limbs in place, you can’t help but be symmetrical right? Left arm, right arm, left arm, right arm…It turns out that symmetry may be more elusive and important that you think for distance swimming. Read the complete May Article!
